Motul 8100 X-Clean EFE and X-Clean Plus are both fully synthetic motor oils, whereas the Motul 6100 Syn-nergy is a semi-synthetic oil. All these oils are established for both petrol as well as for diesel engines.
EFE is a fuel economy oil that is most compatible with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology systems. It has synthetic base stock combined with friction modifiers to generate an impressive oil film around the moving engine parts. Its high-temperature resistivity makes the oil consumption very controlled, due to which it allows longer oil change intervals.

This oil has a high level of detergents and anti-wear and tear additives to enhance its cleaning and lubricating performances. It contains viscosity modifiers to improve its kinematic viscosity at all temperatures.

Catalytic Converter Running Evaluation
The phosphorus and zinc appear inside the engine oil as anti-wear and tear extracts are a hindrance to the converter’s working. The reason is that when the motor oil gets oxidized these compounds turn into ash, which clogs the converter and reduces its functioning.

Sludge Build-up Reduction Comparison
The heated oil when introduced to the moisture gets combined with it, along with the other contaminants inside the motor oil, to create a gel-like material called sludge. Comparison of Motor Oil Burn up Protection
At a higher temperature, the lighter molecules of the oil vaporize, increasing its instability. This triggers the build-up of vapors, causing the oil to get to its flashpoint (ignition point) at a lesser temperature. Thus, an oil with a smaller number of simpler molecules will vaporize slowly and reach its flashpoint at a higher temperature.

Viscosity Judgement
The ability of the engine oil to transfer motion between its layers at a certain temperature is recognized as its kinematic viscosity. The motor oil with a higher kinematic thickness will perform better. If the kinematic thickness of the motor oil is less affected by the change in temperature, then its viscosity index will be higher.
At an average temperature (40°C), EFE has the highest, Syn-nergy the medium while Plus has the lowest kinematic thickness. At a high temperature (100°C), EFE has the highest, Plus has the medium while Syn-nergy has the lowest kinematic viscosity.
Since Syn-nergy has the minimum effect of difference in temperature on its kinematic thickness, therefore, this oil’s viscosity index is the greatest. Similarly, EFE and Plus have lower viscosity index respectively, because of the higher effect on their viscosities due to temperature changes.
Pour point (freezing point) of the Syn-nergy is the lowest, EFE is slightly higher while that of Plus is the highest. This makes Syn-nergy best suited to be used in cold weather.
