Motul 8100 X-Clean EFE and X-Clean Plus are both fully synthetic motor oils, whereas the Motul 6100 Syn-nergy is a semi-synthetic oil. All these oils are established for both petrol as well as for diesel engines.
EFE is a fuel economy oil that is most compatible with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology systems. It has synthetic base stock combined with friction modifiers to generate an impressive oil film around the moving engine parts. Its high-temperature resistivity makes the oil consumption very controlled, due to which it allows longer oil change intervals.
Plus is only compatible with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF), since it contains Mid SAPS (Sulfated ash, Phosphorus and Sulphur). It has a good quantity of detergents to fight against sludge and reduce its build-up. Its lubricating properties are high, allowing good wear protection and a lower oil change frequency.
On the other hand, Syn-nergy is a Technosynthese lubricant which means it is made with a combination of synthetic and best mineral base stocks for allowing higher performance and better price competitiveness. It is compatible with catalytic converters, but it is not necessarily the best match.
This oil has a high level of detergents and anti-wear and tear additives to enhance its cleaning and lubricating performances. It contains viscosity modifiers to improve its kinematic viscosity at all temperatures.

Catalytic Converter Running Evaluation
The phosphorus and zinc appear inside the engine oil as anti-wear and tear extracts are a hindrance to the converter’s working. The reason is that when the motor oil gets oxidized these compounds turn into ash, which clogs the converter and reduces its functioning.
The maximum level of Zinc and Phosphorus is present in Syn-nergy, Plus has a moderate level while EFE has the least.
Since the lowest quantity of these compounds is tested in EFE, that’s why this oil will generate the lowest quantity of ash and is comparatively best suited to be utilized with catalytic converters.

Sludge Build-up Reduction Comparison
The heated oil when introduced to the moisture gets combined with it, along with the other contaminants inside the motor oil, to create a gel-like material called sludge. Its built-up could bar the tubes supplying motor oil to engine, hence, causing great turmoil inside the engine. Detergents are add up to the engine oil to reduce the sludge build-up.
EFE has the second-highest levels of calcium and sodium, whereas, its magnesium concentration is the lowest comparatively. A small amount of barium is also available to aid the sludge reduction. This makes it second greatest in conditions of sludge reduction. A high concentration of silicon is available to evade foaming.
Plus has the lowest quantities of calcium and sodium, while, having the second-highest concentration of magnesium. But this doesn’t improve its performance much and hence, it is relatively the worst engine oil for lowering sludge. Its silicon amount is likewise the lowest, undermining its anti-foam capability.
Syn-nergy has a tremendous quantity of calcium along with higher quantities of sodium and magnesium as well. Due to the higher quantity of detergents inside this oil, it is best equipped to fight against the sludge. An equal quantity of silicon as in EFE is also appeared in this oil as an anti-foam agent.

Comparison of Motor Oil Burn up Protection
At a higher temperature, the lighter molecules of the oil vaporize, increasing its instability. This triggers the build-up of vapors, causing the oil to get to its flashpoint (ignition point) at a lesser temperature. Thus, an oil with a smaller number of simpler molecules will vaporize slowly and reach its flashpoint at a higher temperature.
Syn-nergy has the greatest flashpoint, whereas, EFE has the second-highest, while, Plus has the least. Since Syn-nergy is the least volatile oil, therefore, its oil burn-off safeguard will be the highest.

Evaluation of Engine’s Fading Shield
Anti-wear and tear extracts in the oil protect the engine’s moving parts by forming a oiling film all around them. This film avoids the direct metal-to-metal contact, hence, decreasing the friction between them.
EFE has the highest quantities of boron and molybdenum, but its phosphorus and zinc quantities are the lowest comparatively. This results in a mediocre oil in conditions of wear reduction.
Plus has the second-highest quantities of zinc and phosphorus, but its boron concentration is lowest of all. There is also no molybdenum available inside it, whereas a lower total of titanium is present. But it is not enough to rectify the lowest anti-wear capability of this engine oil.
Syn-nergy, has the highest concentrations of phosphorus and zinc along with the second-highest concentrations of molybdenum and boron. Relatively higher quantities of these anti-wear and tear additives cause this oil to form a thicker film around the metal parts, delivering the greatest lubrication.

The ability of the engine oil to transfer motion between its layers at a certain temperature is recognized as its kinematic viscosity. The motor oil with a higher kinematic thickness will perform better. If the kinematic thickness of the motor oil is less affected by the change in temperature, then its viscosity index will be higher.
At an average temperature (40°C), EFE has the highest, Syn-nergy the medium while Plus has the lowest kinematic thickness. At a high temperature (100°C), EFE has the highest, Plus has the medium while Syn-nergy has the lowest kinematic viscosity.
Since Syn-nergy has the minimum effect of difference in temperature on its kinematic thickness, therefore, this oil’s viscosity index is the greatest. Similarly, EFE and Plus have lower viscosity index respectively, because of the higher effect on their viscosities due to temperature changes.
Pour point (freezing point) of the Syn-nergy is the lowest, EFE is slightly higher while that of Plus is the highest. This makes Syn-nergy best suited to be used in cold weather.
|Oils in Assessment (5W-30)||Kinematic Viscosity at 40 o C (mm2/s)||Kinematic Viscosity at 100 o C (mm2/s)||Viscosity Index (VI)||Pourpoint temperature (Degrees Celsius)|
|Motul 8100 X-Clean EFE||70.1||12.1||169||-42|
|Motul 8100 X-Clean+||62.9||11.8||167||-36|
|Motul 6100 Syn-nergy||68.8||11.2||177||-43|
Oil Change Rate Difference
The base additives found inside the motor oil to defuse the harmful acids produced throughout the burning process are measured in the manner of Total base number (TBN). A greater TBN permits the oil to be employed for longer intervals.
The TBN of Syn-nergy is highest, EFE is medium while Plus has the least. Therefore, their oil change intervals are 10,000 plus, 10,000, and 8000 Kms respectively.

|Motul 8100 X-Clean EFE||7.8|
|Motul 8100 X-Clean+||6.7|
|Motul 6100 Syn-nergy||10.2|
